Description
General Dynamics Land Systems is looking for a full-time Electrical / Electronic Field Service Engineer to join our Engineering Team, based in Merthyr Tydfil. The successful candidate will earn a salary of £36,000 to £45,000 depending on experience and potential. This role suits someone with a proactive and positive mindset and a keen desire to grow professionally. The role is based at the GDLS-UK facility in Bovington and may require work at MoD/GDLS-UK facilities within the UK at the Company’s expense. There may also be opportunities to work overseas supporting routine maintenance and/or CONDO activities. While contracted to a 37.5-hour week, extended paid hours and weekend work may be required to support the programme.
Responsibilities
* Technical focal point for all vehicle related matters including modifications, Post Design Services (PDS), technical training and defect reporting (DRACAS).
* Assess battle damage, warranty faults and recommend rectification procedures.
* Provision of training to new team members and oversee/advise/mentor MOD AJAX personnel.
* Work with design/project engineers to develop optimised engineered solutions. Provide field feedback on technical issues and support System and Software Engineers in designing technical resolution.
* Carry out all levels of repairs on AJAX Variants (up to Level 4) and perform upgrades/modifications as per Design changes.
* Perform business support administration (timesheets, procurement of equipment, stocktaking, data collection and reporting) using provided IT systems.
* Document, maintain and improve Work Instructions (including IETP etc.).
* Work outside of a 9 to 5 routine (this could involve weekends).

* Demonstrable knowledge of automotive/electrical systems and how they work together
* Highly customer focused with good communication skills
* IT literate with working knowledge of MS Office
* Ability to share knowledge within the team
* Ability to achieve SC Clearance level
* Willingness to pursue personal furtherment to relevant professional qualifications
* Experience in Tech/Electronic Engineering or related discipline
* Military Electronic Technician Class 1 / NVQ and/or City & Guilds Level 3
* Armoured vehicle/Turret experience (e.g. Challenger, Warrior, CVR(T), AS90)
