Do you want to be part of a team working on cutting-edge innovations that shape the future of air travel? If so, Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Tooling Engineer to join our composites team onsite in Kilkeel, Northern Ireland.

What You Will Do

1. Design, manage, and maintain all tooling activities for a composite manufacturing facility
2. Collaborate with Integrated Product Teams (IPT) to develop optimised tooling solutions aligned with current manufacturing capabilities
3. Lead the design of composite tooling using both internal and external resources
4. Provide tooling cost estimates (VROM) to support programme planning and approvals
5. Act as the subject matter expert for all tooling-related matters across the facility
6. Create and maintain technical documentation, tooling standards, and specifications for vendors
7. Plan and manage tooling maintenance schedules in line with production needs
8. Oversee tooling projects end-to-end, including vendor selection, budgeting, commissioning, and acceptance
9. Support and guide tool maintenance teams and repair shop activities
10. Partner with Operations to resolve tooling-related challenges on the shop floor
11. Drive continuous improvement in tooling strategies, cost efficiency, and product quality
12. Lead and support initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes and tooling performance
13. Promote a safe working environment aligned with company standards
14. Any other duties as deemed relevant to the position

What You Will Learn

15. Advanced composite tooling design and manufacturing processes
16. End-to-end project management of tooling programmes
17. Cross-functional collaboration within Integrated Product Teams
18. Vendor management and external supplier engagement
19. Continuous improvement methodologies, including lean manufacturing principles
20. Problem-solving in a high-performance production environment
21. How to optimise tooling for efficiency, cost, and quality in a real-world setting

Essential Criteria

22. Minimum 2 years experience in a comparable professional role.
23. 1 Year's working experience in 2D & 3D modelling.
24. Third level qualification in Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent.

Desirable Criteria

25. 1 Year’s working experience of composite production techniques & processes.
26. 3 Year’s working experience in a tool manufacturing environment.
27. 3 Year’s working experience of working with external vendors to deliver tooling packages
28. Understanding of lean manufacturing techniques
29. Knowledge of GD&T
30. 1 year project management experience
