Reporting to the Fleet Director, as part of the Fleet Leadership Team, this key role is responsible for leading, managing and motivating the Fleet Production Team in both the planning and delivery of Fleet Maintenance across all Production Depots and Outstations.
As Head of Fleet Production you will:
* Inspire, motivate and provide strategic leadership for the Fleet Production team
* Ensure the provision of adequate resources of sufficient number, skill, competence and experience to safely and reliably provide the required depot output, whilst ensuring all company policies and procedures are implemented.
* Secure a strong Union relationship at both local and functional level, which includes chairing the Fleet Functional Council.
* Support the safe delivery of, and at a depot level ensure robust implementation and governance for, fleet and business projects.
* Ensure robust support structures are in place to enable the safe and efficient delivery of the required output, including facilities, quality, health and safety and environmental management systems.
* Form strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, to ensure the needs of the depot are represented across the broader company functions, and vice versa
* Monitor the performance of the fleet maintenance depots to ensure output remains aligned to the respective depot plans, taking into account available resource and workload.
* Work with the respective Depot Managers to ensure the depot output remains at an acceptable level and monitor daily fleet availability, escalating issues as necessary.
* Develop strategic plans for responding to future fleet changes to ensure that maintenance provision at Depots and Outstations are readily achievable for the timetabled plan of the day and emerging risks are identified and acted upon.
* Provide forecast reporting and analytical trend data that identifies workforce and financial planning, to not only reduce cost, but provide accurate forecast of the Annual Business Plan.
To be successful in this role you should have;
* Educated to a degree standard or equivalent.
* Demonstrable experience managing production environments at a senior level
* Significant experience of people management in a unionised environment.
* A strong communicator with the proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
* A strong safety leader with experience in managing safety improvement initiatives.
* Ability to motivate and inspire a large team.
* Experienced in Trade Union engagement.
* Excellent written, verbal and numerical skills.
* Ability to analyse data and implement changes based on the information.
* Good commercial acumen and experienced in stakeholder management.
* Experience of railway rolling stock
* IOSHH, NEBOSH or an equivalent health and safety qualification would be advantageous.
