Job description:
We are supporting a consulting client on a search for an experienced Enterprise Architect to join a London-based programme on a contract basis.
This role is focused on producing high-quality architecture documentation using the C4 model, helping to map current-state systems, define target-state architecture, and support strategic technology decisions across a Consumer Goods / Retail environment. You will work closely with architects, product owners, engineering leads, and business stakeholders to capture architecture across key platforms and communicate it clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Key responsibilities:
* Produce and maintain C4 architecture diagrams across context, container, component, and selective code level
* Document current-state architecture and define target-state options and transition roadmaps
* Run workshops and engage with business, product, and engineering stakeholders
* Support architecture reviews, modelling standards, and governance practices
* Advise on integration patterns, API design, event-driven architecture, and platform choices
* Deliver clear architecture artefacts that can be maintained by internal teams after handover
Required experience:
* Strong experience in Enterprise / Solution / Technical Architecture roles, ideally 10+ years
* Proven hands-on experience applying the C4 model on real engagements
* Previous experience in Consumer Goods and/or Retail environments
* Strong understanding of integration patterns, API design, event-driven architecture, and modern cloud platforms
* Experience with tools such as Structurizr, Lucidchart, draw.io, PlantUML, Mermaid, or similar
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including working with senior non-technical audiences
