Job description Vanrath are recruiting for a Band 4 Residential Staff on behalf of a large public sector company in Newry on a temporary basis. What's in it for you? Full time 37hrs Temporary Band 4 £14.06ph About your next employer The residential staff member will work as a member of a residential team to create a warm caring environment which meets the emotional, spiritual, physical and intellectual needs of a group of Looked After young people aged 10-18 years living in the residential home. The objective is to care for young people in a planned environment and the organisation and management of the home must be orientated towards the realisation of this goal What you'll do Together with other team members to share the responsibility for the care and supervision of young persons within the home during the nighttime hours. Be required to be active throughout their shift in their care / supervisory duties and in carrying out specific instructions as directed regarding the supervision and monitoring of young people to ensure their safety. Ensure that appropriate records are maintained, particularly those detailing observations and/or assessment of each young person, in accordance with statutory requirements and agreed policy and procedures. Appropriately support and care for the young people in a crisis or significant event. This will require relevant knowledge, skills and values including emotional intelligence and resilience as per Therapeutic Crisis Intervention model & the Northern Ireland Framework for Integrated Therapeutic Care. Care staff will receive ongoing training and assessment in these models, relevant to their role. Keep in contact with parents/carers as appropriate (if situation during the night-time requires this), and as appropriate, other professional staff, regarding the needs of the young people. Participate in staff meetings, consultations, group discussions, reflective practice and formal supervision as required. Develop appropriate relationships which will promote the growth and development of the young people with the aim of encouraging emotional maturity and socially acceptable behaviour. Maintain contact with the local community as required to meet the needs of the young people. To foster a culture and ethos within the home in which the needs of children are paramount and which provides them with security, safety, care and education, enabling them to meet their full potential To be sensitive to the needs of individual children, taking account of race, culture, language and religion. This includes accompanying young people when necessary to places of worship, holidays, outings, and on other relevant occasions. Contribute to the daily life of the home through engaging with the young people in activities such as bedtime routines, housework, maintenance of clothing, cooking and promoting personal care. Assist with the supervision of clothing for young people, the care of furnishings and household equipment. Administer medication, drugs and first aid in accordance with trust policy. Training and competency assessment will be undertaken. Undertake household and domestic duties appropriate to the care of young people and the cleanliness and maintenance of the home. About you Essential: At least one year minimum experience working with children and young people. Have obtained NVQ Level III Caring for Children and Young People or equivalent Health and Social Care related qualification. Be registered with or prepared to register with NISCC. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, sleep in duties on rota basis.
