Data Migration Architect

Technical Leadership
1. Own the architecture and design of ETL frameworks for clinical data migrations
2. Define migration patterns, tooling strategy, and deployment approach (batch, real-time, hybrid)
3. Provide technical governance across all migration workstreams
4. Lead architecture reviews, design assurance, and technical decision-making
5. Mentor and guide Data Engineers, Architects, and SMEs across the programme
Data Strategy & Planning
6. Define end-to-end data migration strategy, including:
7. Data extraction from legacy clinical systems
8. Transformation rules and mapping specifications
9. Data validation, reconciliation, and quality control frameworks
10. Establish data standards, models, and governance principles aligned to healthcare regulations
11. Develop migration roadmaps, including phasing, cutover strategy, and rollback planning
Clinical Data Expertise
12. Apply knowledge of clinical data models, terminologies, and standards (e.g., patient records, diagnostics, outcomes)
13. Ensure compliance with healthcare data regulations (e.g., GDPR, NHS data standards if UK-based)
14. Work closely with clinicians, analysts, and stakeholders to validate data interpretation
15. Support safe handling of sensitive patient data and ensure auditability
ETL & Data Engineering
16. Design and oversee ETL pipelines for large-scale structured and unstructured clinical datasets
17. Select and implement appropriate tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Informatica, SQL-based tooling)
18. Ensure performance, scalability, and resilience of data processing workflows
19. Oversee data cleansing, enrichment, and transformation logic
Data Quality & Governance
20. Define data quality frameworks, including rules, thresholds, and monitoring processes
21. Lead data profiling, cleansing, and remediation activities
22. Establish reconciliation and verification processes ensuring completeness and accuracy
23. Implement audit trails and data lineage capabilities
Stakeholder Management
24. Act as the primary technical authority for migration with business and clinical stakeholders
25. Translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language
26. Collaborate with programme managers, vendors, and clinical teams
