Responsibilities
* Carry out assessments and treatments of podiatry patients in clinics, nursing homes and patients’ homes, including high‑risk and complex cases.
* Perform debridement of callous, corns, and foot ulcers, including work in acute angles for wheelchair‑bound patients.
* Administer local anaesthesia injections, managing potential anaphylactic reactions.
* Fabricate, evaluate and dispense chair‑side insoles/orthotics and prescribe exercise/stretching regimes.
* Plan and cast bespoke orthoses.
* Carry out minor surgical procedures such as nail surgery and electro‑surgery.
* Develop and review individualised care plans, ensuring timely referrals to GPs, district nursing, specialist foot clinics, social services and voluntary organisations.
* Co‑ordinate care for patients from diverse cultural backgrounds and with communication barriers.
* Manage own caseload, including emergency referrals and same‑day appointments, using effective time‑management, stress‑management and prioritisation skills.

Qualifications – Essential
* State registration to HPC
* Podiatry Diploma/ Degree
* Local Anaesthesia Administration Certificate
* Full driver’s licence
* Commitment to continuous professional development and awareness of current NHS changes

* IRMER certificate
* POMs certificate
* Evidence of continuing professional development portfolio
Experience – Essential
* Minimum 1 year postgraduate experience with high‑risk or wound care caseloads, and willingness to undertake further training in specialist podiatry (e.g. diabetes).
* Post‑graduate experience in minor surgical procedures, biomechanics (diagnosis, fabrication, prescription, and evaluation of orthoses), local anaesthesia injections (dose calculation and contraindication management), and full patient assessment including vascular and neuropathic evaluations.
* Experience coaching students and willingness to undertake clinical coaching training.
Experience – Desirable
* Two years of postgraduate experience with diabetic and ischaemic foot ulceration caseloads.
* Involvement in health education initiatives.
* Evidence of work within specialist podiatry areas such as podiatric surgery, diabetes, and R.A.
* Training in clinical coaching.
Skills – Essential
* Diagnosis, care‑plan development, decision‑making using a holistic approach.
* Organisation of own high‑risk caseload and effective electronic record‑keeping (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Strong verbal and written communication across all age groups and healthcare professionals.
* Proficiency with specialist diagnostic & therapeutic equipment (doppler ultrasound, neurosthesiometer, gait analysis).
* Excellent hand‑eye coordination, dexterity and manual manipulation.
