Job Role: Senior Machine Operator (Silo Tank Experience)
Location: Caerphilly
Shifts: Monday to Friday – Day & Afternoon Shifts
Pay Rate: £13.50 – £27.00 per hour
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Machine Operator to join our processing team in Caerphilly. This hands‑on role involves operating and maintaining silo tanks, pasteurisation, and cream processing systems, ensuring all production runs smoothly and safely. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, proven experience in a dairy or liquid processing environment, and a proactive approach to quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate and oversee silo tank systems and related processing machinery.
* Safely receive cream from tankers and complete tanker receipt documentation.
* Test cream prior to offloading using the SG stock control system.
* Manage pasteurisation and processing operations in line with SOPs and training.
* Monitor and maintain silo temperatures and equipment performance.
* Carry out CIP (clean‑in‑place) cleaning of silos and tankers before and after use.
* Lead by example in maintaining safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
* Ensure full compliance with Critical Control Points (CCPs) and other regulatory standards.
* Accurately complete all required production and quality records.
* Support and mentor junior operators as required.
* Report and help resolve mechanical or process issues promptly.
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience as a Machine Operator, Processing Operative, or similar role in a food or dairy production environment.
* Hands‑on experience with silo tanks and pasteurisation systems.
* Strong mechanical understanding and troubleshooting ability.
* Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain high safety standards.
* Proactive, team‑oriented attitude with leadership potential.
