Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the supportive and enthusiastic Vascular Surgery Therapy Team for a forward- thinking Senior Specialist Physiotherapist. You will be part of a dynamic, well-established, multidisciplinary team, alongside experienced Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Rehabilitation Assistants. The role provides specialist care and management of vascular patients on the Manchester Vascular Centre, including patients who have undergone amputations, aneurysm repairs and revascularisation surgery. MFT is a forward thinking organisation, involved in clinical governance and service development, with opportunities in MDT working and high quality patient care.
You should have relevant Band 6 /7 clinical and developmental experience and will be actively involved in service and team development, supporting senior clinical leads and supervising clinical staff and students. The inpatient services are delivered over 7 days and you will be expected to support and participate in these services as well as on call rota.
Main duties / Responsibilities
* Undertake, on a daily basis, a senior specialist physiotherapy role alongside the Clinical Lead Specialist Physiotherapist in planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the service.
* Carry an independent caseload of patients and deliver a high quality, comprehensive service managing acute vascular patients appropriately.
* Demonstrate excellent clinical reasoning and communication skills to negotiate pathways in challenging situations.
* Provide supervision of junior staff and students; participate in clinical supervision and CPD activities; support MDT initiatives and governance.
* Contribute to service development, professional development, and quality improvement through regular MDT sessions, peer support, and postgraduate opportunities.

Qualifications
Essential
* Recognised BSC Honours degree in physiotherapy or equivalent
* State registration via Health and Care Professions Council
* Clinical Educators Course
* Completion of validated/nationally recognised postgraduate courses or equivalent
* Member of relevant clinical specialist interest group
Desirable
* Involvement in special interest group
* Registered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
* Audit and Research training to a postgraduate level
* Completion of a postgraduate management course
Experience
Essential
* Significant postgraduate clinical experience at a senior/specialist level in a relevant field
* Comprehensive specialist knowledge of physiotherapy assessment and treatment techniques
* Working knowledge of local and national policies and procedures (Manual Handling, CSP/HCPC Code of Conduct, Health and Safety, Infection Control, CPR, Equality and Diversity)
* Evidence of CPD to a specialist level; experience of multidisciplinary team work; supervision of staff/students; involvement in clinical education
* Understanding of clinical effectiveness, quality issues, audit and evidence-based practice; safeguarding knowledge
Desirable
* Experience in a post at this level
* Experience of managing less senior staff; involvement in clinical effectiveness activities
* Knowledge of community and intermediate care services; postgrad research involvement
