Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Responsible Individual to oversee multiple newly launched children’s residential homes in the Leicester area.
This is a key leadership role with the opportunity to shape high-quality, child-centered services from the ground up during an exciting period of growth. The successful candidate will bring a proven track record in residential childcare leadership, a strong grasp of regulatory frameworks, and a genuine passion for making a positive difference in the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the Ofsted Registered Responsible Individual on behalf of the organisation.
* Ensure all homes operate in line with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and safeguarding legislation.
* Lead the registration and setup of 2–3 new residential homes, ensuring full compliance and readiness for inspection.
* Provide supervision, mentorship, and leadership to Registered Managers across sites.
* Oversee all regulatory inspections, audits, and quality assurance processes.
* Develop and embed robust policies and procedures to promote safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environments.
* Build and maintain strong partnerships with local authorities, external stakeholders, and families.
* Champion a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and positive outcomes for children and young people.
Person Specification
* Previous experience as a Responsible Individual, Area Manager, or multi-site leader within children’s residential care.
* In-depth knowledge of Ofsted frameworks, Children’s Homes Regulations, and safeguarding legislation.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
* Proven track record in securing and sustaining “Good” or “Outstanding” Ofsted ratings.
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
* Excellent communication, organisational, and strategic planning abilities.
* Flexibility and willingness to travel across homes in the Leicester area.
* Experience in opening or registering new homes.
* Familiarity with trauma-informed and therapeutic care approaches.
