Overview
Opportunity for a Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join the Children’s Wheelchair & Seating Service’s therapist team at the SMART Centre, Astley Ainslie Hospital, Edinburgh. The SMART Centre provides highly specialised clinical rehabilitation technology services across the southeast of Scotland.
Responsibilities
* Provide patient-focused assessment and prescription of manual and powered wheelchairs and postural supports using specialist levels of decision making and clinical judgement to maximise function and independence with appropriate pressure relief and management.
* Support and develop knowledge of wheelchairs and seating; training will be provided if required.
* Provide advice, education and training to other members of the multi-disciplinary team, external healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, clients and relatives.
* Participate in quality management and improvement activities within the service.
* This is a permanent position of 14.8 hours per week over 2 days.
Requirements/Qualifications
* Specialist Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist.
* PVG Scheme membership/record. If not current for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult), an application to Disclosure Scotland will be needed before starting.
* Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, there may be changes to criminal records checks. If the post is assessed as a “regulated role”, appointment will be subject to PVG Scheme membership. Any changes will be confirmed by the Hiring Manager or Recruitment Team.
* To work in the United Kingdom, you must have permission to work in the country as required by UK Visas and Immigration.
* Good communication, teamwork and the ability to provide education and training to others.
