We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Engineer to support with short and long term projects within our manufacturing site. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing complex projects within the manufacturing industry. The successful candidate will support project from planning to execution, ensuring minimal disruption to operations while maintaining budget, timeline, and safety standards.
Main Responsibilities
* Project Planning & Coordination: Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and key deliverables. Design, develop, and implement new manufacturing systems, equipment, and processes to meet evolving production needs. Analyse existing processes and identify areas for improvement, such as streamlining workflows, reducing waste, and enhancing efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations, engineering, supply chain, etc.) to ensure alignment on goals and objectives. Manage projects related to new process implementation, equipment installation, and production line optimization.
* Budget & Resource Management: Oversee procurement of materials, equipment, and labour as necessary through designated projects. Monitor expenses and track project costs to ensure adherence to the budget.
* Collaboration: Coordinate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure timely execution of tasks to be on time and in full. Lead regular meetings to communicate project progress, risks, and issues with stakeholders.
* Risk & Issue Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address challenges. Ensure any issues are resolved promptly to keep projects on track.
* Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety regulations and environmental standards within the manufacturing site.
* Continuous Improvement: Implement and manage continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes and reduce costs using structured formats.
Skill Requirements
* Minimum HNC qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.
* Experience in project and manufacturing engineering.
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, production cell layouts and process flows.
* Proven experience in managing budgets, scheduling, and resource allocation.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
* Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Knowledge of safety regulations, environmental considerations, and compliance standards in manufacturing.
Preferred Skills
* Experience in APQP and PPAP standards including Process Flow Diagram, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis and Process Capability.
* Experience with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or similar methodologies.
* Proficient in Visio and or CAD software.
We offer Working Hours – Monday – Friday (38 hours per week, half day Friday), Location – Round Spinney, Northampton (Office based, with some flexibility for occasional Home working), Pension – 4% employer contribution, and Annual Leave – 25 plus bank holidays.
