The Role
As an Associate Engineer, you will contribute to the development of advanced control and autonomy technologies that support next-generation crewed and uncrewed military aviation systems.
Day-to-day, you’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team carrying out research, development, integration and testing of autonomy and control solutions, supporting projects from early concept through to live trials.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Applying systems engineering principles to control and autonomy solutions
2. Developing and analysing algorithms for autonomous and decision-support systems
3. Contributing to AI and machine learning software development using C, C++, Python or Matlab
4. Supporting modelling and simulation of uncrewed systems within synthetic environments
5. Assisting with hardware integration, testing and system trials
Essential experience of the Associate Engineer:
6. Experience applying systems engineering approaches
7. Background in software development for engineering applications
8. Exposure to modelling, simulation or algorithm development
9. A genuine interest in aviation, autonomy or uncrewed systems
Essential qualifications for the Associate Engineer:
10. Degree in a STEM discipline such as Engineering, Physics or Applied Mathematics

This role is full time (37 hours per week) based at Farnborough. Hybrid working patterns are available. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
