What we are looking for?

A unique opportunity has arisen for a qualified Family & Systemic Psychotherapist (Band 7) to work alongside other systemic colleagues within a friendly, energetic and exciting multi-disciplinary team in Harrow CAMHS. We welcome applications from experienced or newly qualified Systemic and Family Psychotherapists.

In the case of newly qualified Systemic and Family Psychotherapists who have not yet received their Professional Body Registration we will support you to obtain your UKCP Registration.

What the role entails and what will we offer you?

This is a part-time permanent post and is part of an innovative, dynamic and growing systemic discipline within Harrow CAMHS offering a full systemic service comprising direct systemic work, systemic consultation, group work and Family Therapy Reflecting Team clinic.

As part of the Harrow CAMHS community specialist team, you will also join your colleagues in offering a Generic CAMHS Service through Duty and Initial Assessments and Case Management. The post will be supervised by the Principal/Lead Family & Systemic Psychotherapist in Harrow Tier 3 CAMHS and line managed by the Service/Team Manager.

You and your development will be supported through individual and group systemic supervision, access to a broad range of Trust Training and exposure to multiple forms of service delivery.

Main duties of the job

1. Provide generic assessments of children and young people referred to the team based on the referral.
2. Formulate and implement evidence-based Care plans for the treatment and/or management of the child/young person’s problems.
3. Be responsible for implementing a range of systemic and family therapy interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across the sub-teams within Harrow CAMHS. These will include long and short-term interventions as appropriate to need
4. Take part in regular Systemic and Family Therapy Clinics as both the therapist and part of a reflective team.
5. Deliver Systemic-Based Group Work to parents and children
6. Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options considering both theoretical and therapeutic models and factors that have shaped the individual & family.
7. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of children and young people.
8. Provide specialist expertise, advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to children and young people’s formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
9. Contribute directly and indirectly to a framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all children and young people of the service, across all settings and agencies.
10. To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual children, young people and families/carers.
11. To provide advice to other professions on risk assessment and risk management.

CAMHS colleagues, service line managers in CAMHS, social workers, school staff, frontline workers in other agencies, Adult Mental Health Services, members of other disciplines and agencies responsible for a client’s care

Job Summary

To provide a systemic and family therapy service to children and young people with mental health problems across all sectors of care as part of the Systemic and Family Therapy team within the multi-disciplinary CAMHS service. Providing specialist systemic and family assessment and therapy to service users and their families/carers and advice and consultation to colleagues and the professional network involved in their support. The post holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service’s policies and procedures. The post holder will provide generic CAMHS assessment and intervention as well as providing specialist systemic and family therapy interventions and contribute to support plans for the care of children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

The post holder will be based in the Emotional Disorders Team (EDT).

They will also contribute to highly specialist assessments of children with complex mental health presentations such as depression, anxiety, trauma and Eating Disorders, supporting case formulation and treatment plans in line with best practice and evidence-based interventions.

The post holder will work as part of the systemic discipline team providing training, advice and consultation to colleagues in the service. They will utilise research skills for audit to support policy and service development; and research within the area served by the service and of relevance to young people their families and carers.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
