Prison Facilitator - HMP The Mount at Shannon Trust
Shannon Trust is delighted to collaborate with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to deliver peer‑led learning programmes at HMP The Mount. Working closely with prison staff, inmates, volunteers and mentors, this role will lead the delivery and development of a prison‑based reading and numeracy programme, maximising learning opportunities for people in prison.
Responsibilities
* Lead the design, delivery and ongoing development of prison‑based reading and numeracy programmes.
* Build positive relationships with staff, inmates and volunteers, facilitating a supportive learning environment.
* Maintain accurate records of progress and outcomes, reporting to prison and organisational stakeholders.
* Ensure compliance with security and safety protocols, including maintaining prison clearance.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience working in or with prison settings, with a clear understanding of prison operations and culture.
* Strong relational skills, with resilience, determination and a problem‑solving approach.
* Evidence of the ability to train and mentor others in adult basic skills.
* Required prison security clearance, and will be offered before finalised employment.
