We Change Lives Charity Trustee / Board Member - Voluntary Position
Location: Warrington / North West (Hybrid)
Time Commitment: Around one day per month
Help us shape the future of care
At We Change Lives, we believe great care changes everything.
We're a forward-thinking social care charity supporting adults across the North West - including people with learning disabilities, complex physical health needs, acquired brain injuries, mental health needs, and older adults living with dementia.
We Change Lives is a not-for-profit charity; we have no shareholders, and every surplus is reinvested directly into our charitable purpose.
Our purpose is simple: supporting people to live their best lives.
We're ambitious too. Over the next few years, we plan to grow our reach, strengthen our impact, and reinvest more into the people and communities we support. To help guide that journey, we're looking for new Trustees to join our Board.
Why join our Board?
Becoming a Trustee at We Change Lives offers the chance to combine professional challenge with genuine purpose.
You'll use your insight and experience to help shape a growing, values-led organisation - while gaining valuable Board-level exposure and personal development.
It's a rewarding opportunity to give back, broaden your perspective, and contribute to one of the most vital and complex sectors in the UK.
Who we're looking for
There's no perfect CV for this role - we welcome diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
You might be a senior professional, clinician, or community leader who:
* Asks thoughtful questions and isn't afraid to challenge constructively
* Spots opportunities and risks early
* Inspires big-picture thinking and long-term strategy
* Brings empathy and curiosity about the people we support
* Acts as an ambassador for WCL, using your network to promote our purpose
* Balances challenge with support for our leadership team
* Understands that being a Trustee means more than attending meetings - it's about staying connected and engaged
* For those who have retired or are transitioning from full-time careers, becoming a Trustee offers a rewarding way to continue using your experience in a purposeful role. It allows you to stay intellectually engaged, contribute meaningfully, and share your insights - all while maintaining the freedom and balance that retirement brings.
* Some of our strongest Board members have joined us with limited or no business or management experience. Professionals such as lawyers, teachers, and clinicians often excel because they think critically, focus on what truly matters, ask powerful questions, and bring valuable insight from complex and regulated environments. If you model the behaviours in section 3.1 of the Trustee & Board Member Information Pack and have some strategic-level experience - even if you're earlier in your leadership journey - we encourage you to apply. We can also offer a supportive, gradual introduction to Board responsibilities.
We're particularly interested in individuals with experience in care quality, people and culture, growth, or clinical excellence, but we're open to anyone who shares our values and curiosity.
What you'll gain
* Personal & professional growth - build strategic insight, emotional intelligence, and governance experience
* A strong CV story - demonstrate purpose-driven leadership that stands out in any career
* Intellectual challenge - shape strategy in a dynamic, highly regulated environment
* Connection & collaboration - work with a talented team united by shared values and ambition
This is a voluntary role, requiring around one day per month, including quarterly in-person meetings in Warrington and virtual subcommittees.

If you're ready to use your experience to make a meaningful difference - while growing as a leader yourself - we'd love to hear from you.
