Key Activities
* Support the transfer of patients’ own and dispensed one‑stop medication between wards.
* Put stock items away and rotate stock to minimise wastage.
* Identify slow moving stock and transfer to alternative locations within the trust to minimise wastage.
* Identify medicines supplied for patients that have been transferred and deliver them to the patient’s current location to reduce the requirement for re‑dispensing.
* Check and clear medicine trollies at least once a week.
* Reduce the number of expired medicines and liquid medicines not labelled with “opened on” / expiry date.
* Support the ward staff in ensuring fridge and clinical room temperatures are recorded on a daily basis.
The role is primarily ward based and will require a good understanding of medicine supply systems. Rotations between sites, participation in the seven‑day, late duty, and bank holiday rotas on the St Helier site to support the inpatient team are required.
Qualifications & Skills
Demonstrated excellent communication and time management skills, and a good attention to detail are required. NVQ Level 2, previous experience of working in hospital pharmacy and knowledge of pharmacy distribution and stock systems is essential.
