We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join the Chemical Compliance Team (CCT), within Waste Industry and Regulatory Services (WIRS), part of Environmental Markets and Regulation (EMR), Environment Agency.
This technical role focusses on compliance monitoring relating to the use of restricted chemicals (as outlined in the Environment Agency 25 Year Environment Plan). This is achieved through surveillance of e-commerce sites and via targeted compliance campaigns.
You will be providing support to the team in delivering to deliver compliance campaigns and regulatory activities to the highest possible standard.
You will need good organisational and data / information management skills, with the ability to prioritise your tasks effectively, manage a varied workload and meet appropriate deadlines. You will be team player with excellent interpersonal abilities; able to work independently and as part of a team; provide fantastic service to our internal and external customers. This role provides the successful candidate with opportunities for growth and onward development.

WIRS is an inclusive department consisting of experienced and knowledgeable regulatory staff, delivering a variety of technical and compliance related activities across several regulatory regimes; helping to protect and improve the environment. We provide environmental guidance and regulation across the UK and internationally.
Areas of work include: chemical compliance and regulation, pollution inventory, hazardous waste, waste tracking, and regulatory returns for waste management.
Experience/skills Required
You will require good written and verbal communication skills, have the ability to follow written processes and use different digital tools.
Relevant work experience would be an advantage, however being able to demonstrate the following list of skills will be important:

Contact and additional information
The job will be within WIRS and based with other EA National teams at Sheffield. Some attendance at the Sheffield office would be required as agreed with Team Leader and perhaps some national travel also.
Everyone joining us is required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when needed. An incident role is an essential part of working for us and an active way to support communities and prevent environmental harm.
