Croydon pride videographer - volunteer

Croydon
Croydon Pride
Posted: 20 April
Offer description

Help us tell the story of Croydon Pride 2026. We’re looking for a creative volunteer videographer to capture the joy of our parade and BOXPARK celebration on Sat 15 Aug. If you’d like to use your lens to support our community and create something beautiful together, we’d love to hear from you.

What difference will you make?

Having a dedicated videographer isnt just about having a “nice video” to watch after the event—it is a strategic asset that ensures the long‑term survival and growth of Croydon Pride.

As we move to BOXPARK in 2026, the stakes are higher than ever. Here is how professional‑quality video transforms the festival:

* The “Proof of Concept” for Sponsors – Sponsors like Superdrug Mobile or Savers need to see a return on their investment. High‑quality footage of a packed BOXPARK, branded activations, and a diverse, smiling crowd is the most powerful tool we have to renew these partnerships. It turns “we had a great day” into “look at the thousands of people engaging with your brand.”
* Attracting Future Talent – When we approach artists like Danny Beard or major agencies, they want to see the “vibe” and production value of the stage. A polished sizzle reel showing professional lighting, a responsive crowd, and a high‑energy atmosphere makes Croydon Pride a “must‑play” destination for top‑tier LGBTQ+ talent.
* Boosting Civic Pride & Press Coverage – Croydon often faces an unfair reputation. By capturing the parade in cinematic high‑definition—showing the Mayor, local businesses, and thousands of residents celebrating together—we rewrite the narrative of our borough. This footage is “press‑ready” for local news outlets (like Your Local Guardian or MyLondon) and helps position Croydon as a cultural leader in London.
* Year‑Round Engagement – Pride shouldnt just be one day a year. A library of great video content allows our social media team to keep the conversation going throughout the winter. We can “drip‑feed” highlights, community interviews, and parade clips to keep our followers engaged, making the launch of the 2027 event much easier.
* Accessibility and Legacy – Not everyone can make it to the parade or BOXPARK in person. Video allows us to share the experience with those who are housebound, living in less supportive environments, or who couldnt attend for financial reasons. It creates a digital legacy that proves Croydon is a safe, welcoming, and vibrant place for the LGBTQ+ community.

What are we looking for?

To capture an event as dynamic and fast‑paced as Croydon Pride at BOXPARK, our ideal volunteer needs a blend of technical proficiency, creative flair, and the right temperament for a festival environment.

Technical Proficiency & Equipment

* The Right Gear – Ownership of (or access to) a camera capable of shooting in at least 1080p at 60fps (for smooth slow‑motion) or 4K. A gimbal or stabilizer is highly preferred, as a marching parade requires a lot of “run‑and‑gun” filming.
* Audio Awareness – Even if we use a music track for the final edit, the ability to capture “atmos” (the roar of the crowd, the drum beats of the parade) using an external microphone is a huge plus.
* Low‑Light Experience – BOXPARK has a great atmosphere, but it can be darker than an open park. Experience adjusting ISO and aperture to maintain a clean image indoors is essential.

Relevant Experience

* Event or Music Filming Experience – Capturing live events where you don’t get a “second take.” You should know how to anticipate a performer’s movements or a crowd’s reaction.
* Short‑Form Storytelling – Ideally, you have experience creating Reels, TikToks, or sizzle reels. We need someone who understands how to cut footage to a beat to create energy and excitement.
* Social Media Savvy – An understanding of vertical vs. horizontal framing. Capturing “social‑first” content (vertical) alongside traditional wide shots is a modern festival requirement.

Key Soft Skills & Qualities

* Proactive & Independent – A self‑starter who can spot a beautiful moment (a hug between friends, a colorful costume, a child waving a flag) and capture it without being told.
* Agile & Energetic – You’ll be walking the parade route and then navigating a crowded BOXPARK. This role requires someone who is happy to stay on their feet and move through crowds to get the hero shot.
* Culturally Competent – It is vital that our videographer is empathetic and respectful toward the LGBTQ+ community. They should have an eye for capturing the diversity of the event in a way that is empowering, inclusive, and joyful.

Post‑Production Commitment

* Editing Capability – Access to editing software (Final Cut, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or even high‑level CapCut) and the ability to turn around a highlight clip within 48–72 hours of the event while the buzz is still high.
* Organizational Skills – The ability to manage and transfer large files efficiently so our team has a clean archive for future use.

What will you be doing?

As a volunteer videographer for Croydon Pride 2026, your role is to be the visual storyteller of our most ambitious year yet. With our move to BOXPARK Croydon, we aren’t just looking for someone to “record” the day; we are looking for someone to capture the emotion, the scale, and the vibrant spirit of our community.

The Parade: Energy & Movement

* The Scale – Wide shots of the crowds, the colorful banners, and the mayor/VIPs leading the way.
* The Joy – Close‑ups of smiling faces, people dancing, and the interaction between the marchers and the public.
* The Sound – High‑energy footage of the mobile marching bands and performers that brings the streets to life.

At BOXPARK: Venue & Atmosphere

* The Main Stage – Capturing snippets of our headliners (like Danny Beard) and community performers. We need dynamic shots that show the professional lighting, the sound, and the crowd’s reaction.
* The Atmosphere – B‑roll of people enjoying the food vendors, the “Partner” activations, and the general “vibe” of the iconic venue.
* Weather‑proof – Highlighting the benefits of our new indoor/outdoor hybrid home—showing a high‑impact, premium experience regardless of the British summer weather.

Key Deliverables

* A “Sizzle” Reel – A fast‑paced 60–90 second highlight video (think Instagram Reel/TikTok style) that we can use to thank our partners and promote 2027.
* Social Media Snippets – 3–5 short “raw” clips (15 seconds each) that our social team can post throughout the day or shortly after.
* Raw Footage – A transfer of the best raw shots for our long‑term archive.
* Technical Collaboration – You will work alongside our Production Managers (Deryn and Yeray) to ensure you have access to the best vantage points—including potential stage‑side or “behind the scenes” access. You’ll be part of the crew, helping us document a historic milestone for Croydon’s LGBTQ+ community.

What’s in it for you?

* Portfolio Gold – Credits on footage that will be seen by thousands and potentially used in local press.
* Access – A “Crew” pass for the full BOXPARK takeover.
* Community – The chance to be at the centre of a grassroots team building something “Croydon can truly be proud of.”
