A leading higher education establishment have an opening for a Finance Assistant to join their enrolment desk. The Finance Assistant role involves supporting the tuition fee process, enrolment activities and related income processes whilst managing enquiries in a face-to-face environment and providing an effective customer service to all students. Salary: £36,237 35-hour week Hybrid role Finance Assistant responsibilities: Acting as a primary member of the enrolment desk for the finance function, working with relevant departments to resolve student queries Taking payment via credit card for outstanding tuition fees, ensuring relevant discounts and scholarships have been applied Providing an efficient customer-oriented service to all students Acting as first point of contact for tuition fee queries and responding appropriately Preparing a list of frequently asked questions and posting these to the website Providing a proactive approach to new and returning students, ensuring payment methods are in place, available and understood by the students to improve fee collection activities Reviewing student finance portals, providing attendance confirmations to ensure that the establishment receive funds without delays Ensuring that refunds are dealt with swiftly, updating the relevant schedules accordingly Sending out payment links, invoices, direct debit forms, statements, receipts, and payment plans Receiving, posting and issuing receipts to students in respect of payments received as requested Contributing to the band reconciliation process, providing cover as required Ensuring that advance payments are correctly recorded on the student database portal Ensuring that students are invoiced following completion of their enrolment tasks, and that the fees are accurately reflected in the student records system Finance Assistant required skills/competencies: Experience working within a higher education setting desirable Use of computer-based accounting systems Proficient in using Excel spreadsheets for reporting purposes
