TSR Legal is pleased to be working with a leading UK law firm in Cheltenham as they look to expand their highly regarded Education and Charities Team with the appointment of a solicitor specialising in data protection.
This nationally recognised team advises more than 400 educational establishments and has built a strong reputation over more than 50 years for its sector expertise and collaborative approach. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well established and supportive team while developing specialist expertise in data protection within the education and charities sector.
The role will involve advising a broad client base on a range of data protection and compliance matters. This includes providing practical advice on UK data protection compliance, supporting clients with personal data breaches and data subject access requests, and drafting and negotiating data protection provisions in commercial contracts such as data processing and data sharing agreements. You will also assist with data protection due diligence in corporate transactions and work closely with colleagues across different practice areas to deliver joined up advice.
The firm is seeking a qualified solicitor with up to four years’ PQE who has experience in commercial and or data protection work. Candidates with broader commercial or corporate experience, or those with in house backgrounds, are also encouraged to apply.
You should have a strong understanding of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, PECR and ICO guidance, along with strong drafting skills, attention to detail and good commercial awareness. An interest in emerging technologies and their privacy implications would be advantageous.
