A well-established Social Housing provider has an exciting new position for a Housing Repair Surveyor focusing on Disrepair cases.
The Role
Working as part of the Complex Case Team within the Property Directorate Management Team, you will provide insight, experience, and direction. You will lead a dedicated team to deliver solutions for complex cases within a defined operating area, ensuring customer involvement and safety are priorities.
1. Conduct detailed property inspections to identify disrepair issues, including damp, mould, structural defects, and other maintenance concerns.
2. Prepare accurate reports and recommend remedial actions in line with legislative requirements and best practices.
3. Liaise with tenants, landlords, and legal teams to investigate complaints and resolve disputes effectively.
4. Ensure compliance with relevant housing legislation, including the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018.
5. Collaborate with contractors, maintenance teams, and external stakeholders to oversee repairs and ensure quality standards.
6. Provide expert witness statements for legal proceedings if required.
7. Maintain up-to-date records and documentation.
The Person
The successful candidate will have recent relevant experience and professional qualifications, including:
* Degree in Building Surveying
* Individual Membership of Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors
* IOSH Managing Safely Certificate
They will also have a track record of delivering complex work programmes and managing disrepair cases in the public or commercial sector.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Extensive experience in building surveying duties
* Knowledge of current CDM regulations
* Understanding of Contract Management issues
* Knowledge of construction materials
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages
* Ability to manage and lead a small maintenance team
