About HMP Altcourse
HMP Altcourse is England’s busiest remand prison, accommodating approximately 1,160 adult males with an average stay of 10 weeks. Practice Plus Group provides primary care and substance misuse services across eight wings, clinic areas, inpatient facilities, and reception services.
Working Pattern
This role requires flexibility and includes unsociable hours, such as evenings and weekends. Shifts run 7 am – 8 pm, Monday – Sunday.
Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK. All offers of employment are subject to enhanced vetting and security checks.
Responsibilities
* Support Pharmacy Technicians on medication rounds (three rounds per day: morning, lunchtime, early evening).
* Second‑check and dispense medication.
* Work in the pharmacy and on the wings with patients.
* Support nurses in clinic and treatment rooms.
* Collaborate with nurses, GPs, and wider health professionals.
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Dispensing (essential).
* Previous pharmacy experience, whether in community, hospital, or a secure environment.
Additional Requirements
* Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 – necessary Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
