The Role A Speech and Language SEN Teaching Assistant in a primary school supports pupils with speech, language, and communication needs, helping them to fully access the curriculum and participate in school life. Working under the guidance of teachers and speech therapists, they deliver tailored interventions, support individual learning plans, and assist with classroom activities. Their role is key in promoting student confidence, improving communication skills, and fostering inclusive learning environments. You will be required to to work on a full time basis until the end of the academic year with the potential to continue in September. You will be expected to: Strong understanding of speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) in children. Experience supporting pupils with SEN, particularly in a primary school setting. Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with young learners. Skilled in delivering targeted interventions under guidance from teachers or therapists. Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals. Ability to adapt tasks and learning materials to meet individual pupil needs. Organised, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Commitment to promoting inclusion and helping every child reach their potential.
