Overview
SWFTCS are looking to recruit a Relief Pharmacist to deliver the core duties of our pharmacists whilst adapting to different work environments and teams, working across all our Outpatient Pharmacy sites.
Job responsibilities
* Fulfil the professional duties of a registered Pharmacist to statutory standards and codes of practice in accordance with best practice and act effectively and ethically to meet needs.
* Coordinate and contribute to the day-to-day operations of the Pharmacy, including clinical and accuracy checks of hospital prescriptions and TTO prescriptions to ensure patients are discharged in a timely manner.
* Learn and understand different pharmacy systems, including EPR, JAC and CMM. Training will be provided for systems.
* Adapt to different working environments and collaborate with various teams.
* Provide advice and information on medicines management and stock supplies to patients and the wider clinical teams to improve safe and accurate prescribing and patient compliance.
* Support the chemotherapy screening pharmacists in performing accuracy checks on prescriptions for oral SACT and supportive medicines.
* Support the counter assistant in the sale of over-the-counter medicines with appropriate advice where needed.
* Contribute to the development and delivery of the business plan (professional best practice, sales and profitability) on time and in full.
* Assist in staff development, build team spirit, lead by example, and monitor performance via delegated responsibilities from the Pharmacy Manager.
* As Responsible Pharmacist, assure service quality and patient safety through policies, procedures, systems and competent personnel; respond to new guidelines or professional standards; be aware of MHRA recalls and act accordingly.
* Maintain professional networks and liaise with Trust staff to support shared goals.
* Monitor performance against KPIs (customer satisfaction, value for money, formulary compliance, incident responses, errors and product alerts) and contribute to periodic reviews with the Trust Head of Pharmacy and Managing Director; submit and act upon DATIX incidents.
* Maintain excellent relationships with commissioners, customers and medical staff; ensure confidentiality and data protection compliance.
* Ensure paperwork is completed accurately and on time; provide concise information and attend required meetings.
* Manage personal development, including annual CPD requirements and revalidation as needed.
* Adhere to H&S, equal opportunities and all other relevant legislation; update policies and SOPs as required.
* Complete SWFT oral chemotherapy training to enable clinical screening of prescriptions.
* May be required to open and close the pharmacy as a key holder and work across sites depending on business needs.
* Any other relevant duties at the request of the line manager.
* Communications and Working Relationships: Foster a customer-first culture and provide liaison between users and suppliers to meet customer needs.
Qualifications
Essential:
* Degree in Pharmacy (Masters or equivalent)
* Current UK registration as Pharmacist
* Team coordination
Desirable:
* Clinical Diploma
Experience
Essential:
* Hospital Outpatient Pharmacy experience; Community Pharmacy experience in the UK with NHS enhanced or advanced services
* NHS hospital prescribing awareness (formularies, etc.) and related discharge meds experience
Desirable:
* Experience working across multiple sites as a relief pharmacist
Skills
Desirable:
* Knowledge of Wellsky/CMM/JAC
* Knowledge of EPR system
