This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, whilst remaining two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions.

Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions.

Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowances and hours.

The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro‑rated if the working hours are less than full time.


The Role & Key Responsibilities

Do you want to make a positive contribution to your local community? if so, we may be able to help you fulfil your aspirations as a Facilities Co‑ordinator within Sussex Police.

The Facilities Co‑ordinators form part of the wider Facilities Service Delivery Team working within the Estates & Facilities Department, supporting officers and staff working in operational roles. You will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, ranging from administrative items such as purchasing, and ordering a variety of goods, to carrying out regular checks of our sites, identifying issues and where possible carrying out minor repairs. You will also be responsible for assisting contractors and ensuring that all aspects of health and safety legislation within our sites is complied with. You will assist in delivering pro‑active and pre‑planned building improvement projects (including site refurbishments, redevelopment, and decommissioning activities) which will add value and enhance the working environment for all staff. Supporting Estates & Facilities led projects across the Sussex estate, you will be working alongside local Departmental teams in both Surrey & Sussex immersing yourself in the diverse world of soft FM service delivery.

You will be based out of Haywards Heath, and will be responsible for undertaking works across properties within the Sussex estate. Therefore, an essential requirement for the role is that you hold a full driver’s licence, including group B, and have the ability to pass a basic Police driving assessment.

You will be self‑motivated with excellent planning and organising skills, be able to manage your scheduled workload whilst having an ability to adapt to changing priorities when required. Excellent communication skills will be key to successfully delivering this service to our colleagues.

Skills & Experience

* Full UK Driving Licence essential
* Experience of working in the Facilities field would be of benefit but not essential.
* Ability to work as part of a team and be self‑motivated to work independently with remote line management
* Practical experience of minor maintenance activities, including repairs, painting, and decorating in the home or a work environment.
* A desire to undertake relevant Health and Safety training to enhance knowledge and develop skills.
* Experience of contributing towards team goals, while having the ability to use your initiative making dynamic and informed decisions to meet the needs of the Organisation.
* Knowledge and experience of Microsoft software including, outlook, word and excel.
