A respected and progressive secondary school in Colchester is seeking to appoint an exceptional Head of Physics to lead and further develop a successful Science faculty starting in April Term.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated Physics specialist with leadership experience - or an ambitious second-in-department ready for progression - to shape the strategic direction of Physics and inspire a love of science across the school.
The Role:
Provide clear leadership and vision for the Physics curriculum across KS3-KS5
Ensure consistently high-quality teaching and learning within the department
Drive outstanding student progress and examination outcomes
Lead curriculum planning, assessment development, and intervention strategies
Support and mentor staff to enhance professional practice
Promote enrichment opportunities such as STEM clubs and competitionsThe Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
A degree in Physics or a closely related discipline
Experience teaching Physics at KS3 & KS4
Strong subject knowledge and a commitment to academic excellence
Leadership experience or demonstrable readiness to lead a department
The ability to analyse performance data and implement improvement strategies
