Position: Vessel Manager Location: Glasgow Department: Operations Reports To: Fleet Manager Position summary We’re looking for an experienced Vessel Manager to take full accountability for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of assigned vessels. Our Vessel Managers are accountable for the success of the operations and people onboard their vessels and success is measured through KPIs, meeting business unit expectations and upholding the company brand at all times. To help achieve this, you’ll be fully supported by our expert teams in Marine & Technical Servies, HSE, Marine Assurance, Marine HR and Financial Analysts. What You’ll Be Doing You’ll provide day-to-day technical and operational support to your vessels, ensuring they meet all safety, regulatory, and performance standards. This includes managing budgets and operating costs, leading dry-dockings and major repairs, and ensuring all maintenance and statutory requirements are met. You’ll carry out regular ship visits, monitor vessel condition, and work closely with all relevant stakeholders to maintain operational excellence. You’ll also lead on vetting readiness, drive performance improvements, and represent the company in customer and partner meetings as required. Supporting and developing Assistant Vessel Managers will also be part of your remit when required. What We’re Looking For You must hold a Certificate of Competency as Master or Chief Engineer (Unlimited) or bring equivalent education and/or experience in vessel or technical management. Strong knowledge of vessel operations, propulsion systems, maintenance planning, and cargo handling equipment is essential. Experience with LNG carriers is preferred but not mandatory, although preference will be given to candidates possessing LNG experience. You should have a solid understanding of, and respect for, safety and compliance frameworks, good commercial awareness, and proven leadership and communication skills.
