Overview
* Role Description (GTI Description): A brief summary of the role purpose and field. The vacancy is for an Electrical Design Engineer within the F-35 Lightning II programme, working with the Airframe Design team responsible for delivery and support of the BAE Systems developed elements of the F-35 Aft Fuselage, in an agile and collaborative business environment.
* The role involves design and integration of structures and systems to result in a certifiable integrated air vehicle, ensuring a safe product is developed, built for reliability and ease of maintainability.
* You will work with other Design Engineers to support overall programme deliverables and contribute to the multidisciplinary product definition, considering safety, cost, manufacturing, in-service support, and other factors.
* Your engineering capabilities should span a range of design skills and lifecycle stages, predominantly in a model-based engineering environment using tools such as Catia V5 and PDM TeamCenter.
Core Duties
* Defining and carrying out engineering tasks within your span of control, performing tasks to cost and on time to meet requirements and business needs.
* Ensuring the technical content of the work, including deliverables, is acceptable to your operational engineering manager and functional manager, utilising the most efficient engineering methods available.
* Confirming all work is compatible with the departmental quality policy and that departmental procedures are followed. Agreeing your work plan with your operational engineering manager and deploying design engineering methods, processes and data for activities within your span of control.
* Ensuring effective interactions with customers, colleagues and others, to promote the best interests of the team, department and company.
* Providing efficiency and effectiveness suggestions for the development of design engineering toolsets and processes within the Design Engineering discipline.
* Safety: The role holder is responsible for taking reasonable care of their own health and safety, ensuring high standards for safety, health and environment (SHE) are maintained. This includes cooperating with and following all reasonable instruction, reporting work-related hazards or incidents, and using all equipment for the purpose intended. More detailed responsibilities are captured in the Company Health & Safety Policy and Environmental Policy.
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
* Knowledge: Experience and knowledge using Catia V5 and subsequent Electrical Workbench.
* Skills: (Recommended max 5 statements)
* Qualifications: A degree in a STEM subject or equivalent with relevant experience.

About the team you’ll be working in
* 5 days per week (Mon-Fri) around relevant site span hours (06:30–19:00 Mon–Thu, 06:30–12:30 Fri).
* Hours required to work per week are 37.00 unless otherwise stated (this does not include lunch breaks).
* Start and finish times to be agreed with local Line Management, in accordance with local site core hours.
* Lunch break (unpaid) is 30 minutes, deducted automatically from 12:30–13:00 by the electronic time management system.
* Dependant on workload, local management may request more or less hours within this contract.
