Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to join our dynamic team, responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and support of Rapiscan’s X-ray, CT, Checkpoint, and Trace systems. This role primarily covers the North East and Scottish regions, with occasional travel across the UK and internationally.
Responsibilities
1. Install, commission, and maintain X-ray, CT, Checkpoint, and Trace systems at customer sites.
2. Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance across EMEA regions.
3. Perform site surveysnd produce detailed service reports.
4. Respond to service call-outs and support customers on a shift-based schedule.
5. Provide remote technical assistance to distributors and customers.
6. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve service-related issues.
7. Ensure timely submission of service documentation and reports.
8. Skills & Experience:
9. Proven experience in a Field Service Engineer role.
10. Strong troubleshooting skills with complex electro-mechanical systems.
11. Proficiency in installing and configuring MS Windows-based servers and workstations.
12. Knowledge of high-end X-ray systems or computed tomography is highly advantageous.
13. Experience with PLC programming is a plus.
14. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
15. Ability to work independently under pressure and adapt to changing project demands.
16. Willingness to travel across the UK and internationally.
17. Eligibility to obtain airport security clearance (including Criminal Record checks).
Qualifications
18. Electrical Diploma with 4–5 years of field experience, or BSc in Engineering with 2–3 years of field experience.
19. Postgraduate qualification in Electrical Engineering is desirable.
20. Recognized IT certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Cisco) are a plus.
21. Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, civil, hydraulic, or electronic systems.
22. Experience with HV systems in medical or industrial engineering is beneficial.
