Job Overview
We are looking for a Data collection support officer, on a full-term and permanent basis. This is a role based in St. Ives, Cambridgeshire. All applicants will be expected to travel to this location for an interview and then each day of work.
The position is to support a data collection project focused on the gender balance in decision making across the European Union which is being conducted on behalf of the European Institute for Gender Equality.
The candidate will be required to undertake direct data collection on women and men in decision-making positions (including leaders of political parties, presidents and members of assemblies and governments, senior administrators) in 35 European countries. Most of the data are collected from websites of the relevant organisations, with often direct contact required for validation or clarifications. It is crucial that the collection is done rigorously and with great attention to detail.
Graduate Skills Requirement:
The successful candidate will preferably have background on Social Sciences, Economics or Statistics at undergraduate level. They should have the following skills:
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Candidates should be competent in MS Office package and in particular MS Excel.
* Confident working with websites in different languages. Knowledge of other EU languages would be beneficial.
*Experience in direct data collection and database management (desirable).
* Knowledge of database management, querying and database software applications (desirable).
*Able to demonstrate a flexible, thorough, accurate and well organised approach to their work.
* Good interpersonal skills and assertiveness.
