The Role
1. To provide the planning and programme requirements for a pharmaceutical construction project in Billingham, Stockton-on-Tees.
2. To provide a timely, effective and professional planning service for proposals and project delivery within the division. To promote the purpose of good planning to internal and external customers and contribute to the effective running of projects and the department. To act as a mentor to junior members of the department. Manage project planners as required.
Key Accountabilities
3. Integration into project teams.
4. Provide clear and concise delivery planning services to project.
5. Prepare look ahead programmes pictorially.
6. Have experience into the input of production management systems and look ahead programme.
7. Liaise with clients and external planning consultants.
8. Lead programme meetings whether internally or presenting to Clients.
9. Set up end to end programmes from appointment to commissioning and close out.
10. Set up and manage auditable trails of programmes.
11. Collate & validate project progress and report to the Project Management Team.
12. Critical Path analysis.
13. Identify and manage project risk.
14. React to client change with “big picture” thinking.
15. Ability to produce detailed programmes and options quickly as required by clients.
16. Ability to advise clients on “last possible moment” decision milestones.
17. Develop relationships with internal teams, consultants, clients and suppliers.
18. Provide mentoring and support to more junior members of staff in planning principles, techniques and software.
19. Work with the project controls manager to manage the collaborative planning process and the interface between cost / time utilising the programme as a commercial tool in the making of payment applications.
20. Manage a small team of planners on a large project.
21. Contribute to the efficient way the department is run by feeding lessons learnt and innovation back into the department.
Skills & Experience
22. Excellent construction and fit out knowledge in terms of architectural construction detail and the installation and commissioning sequences of M&E services.
23. Experience of construction projects for the Pharmaceutical industry is sought for this project.
24. Able to demonstrate these through sound programming and sequencing on a range of projects & proposals through various planning techniques and software.
25. Proven understanding of planning & rescheduling techniques.
26. Proven understanding of the full project cycle and any relative constraints.
27. A good knowledge and understanding of structures and M&E services.
28. Proven understanding of different forms of procurement.
29. Software operations relevant to job role - Primavera6 is the Client requirement, migrating from Asta Powerproject.
30. Relevant experience of being involved in the planning process within the construction and fit out industry.
31. Planning experience in a range of business sectors including trading, retail, leisure, corporate and media.
32. Ability to react quickly to project pace and change, be able to make valid assumptions, challenge design, be able to work alone from information and have confidence and the ability to back up the programmes.
33. Ability to prepare and deliver programming and planning in accordance with the guidelines set down by the Society of Construction Law, Delay and Disruption Protocol.
34. Ability to manage own workload.
35. Capable of strategic and “big picture” thinking as well as detail.
36. Can establish project control systems and reporting.
37. Presentation skills.
38. Ability to manage a team.
Qualifications
39. Recognised qualification in construction
40. HNC/ BTEC Construction Management (desirable)
41. Degree in Construction Management (desirable)
