Position: Design & Technology (DT) Teacher Location: Shrewsbury Contract: Full-Time Start Date: September Key Stages: KS3–KS5 Design & Technology Teaching Role in a Secondary School A well-established secondary school in Shrewsbury is seeking to appoint a Design & Technology (DT) Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a supportive and ambitious school that values creativity, innovation, and high-quality teaching. Design & Technology is a highly regarded subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop technical understanding, problem-solving abilities, and practical skills through engaging project-based learning. About the Role You will teach Design & Technology across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging practical and theory-based lessons that inspire creativity, innovation, and technical confidence. Students will explore areas such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Engineering, Graphics, and design processes while developing practical making skills, CAD/CAM understanding, and evaluative thinking. You will prepare students for GCSE and post-16 DT qualifications, supporting them in building strong practical, technical, and analytical skills. You will work collaboratively within a successful DT department committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning. Key Responsibilities Teach Design & Technology across KS3, KS4, and KS5 Deliver engaging practical and theory-based DT lessons Prepare students for GCSE and post-16 DT qualifications Maintain high standards of workshop health and safety Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development Support STEM and enrichment opportunities The School Environment This secondary school in Shrewsbury provides a structured and supportive environment where students are encouraged to achieve strong outcomes while developing creativity and practical skills.
