About the Role
Northampton Children's Trust is seeking an experienced, passionate, and motivated Supervising Social Worker to join our dedicated Post Approval Team. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in supporting our foster carers and ensuring that children and young people receive high-quality, safe, and stable care placements where they can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Hold a caseload of approved foster carers, providing regular supervision, guidance, and support
Contribute to the duty system and work collaboratively with the Placements Team to identify suitable placements
Undertake assessments to understand the needs of children, young people, and families
Regularly visit foster carers, children, and families to provide advice, support, and interventions
Carry out direct work with children and families to build positive, trusting relationships
Monitor and review placements, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions
Ensure safeguarding and promote the welfare and well-being of children and young people at all times
Complete reports, maintain accurate records, and contribute to reviews and meetings
Undertake any additional duties required to support the service
Skills/Experience
Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience within an English Local Authority (essential)
Recognised Social Work qualification
Social Work England registration (must be current)
Strong knowledge of fostering regulations and safeguarding procedures
Excellent communication, assessment, and organisational skills
