About the RoleOur client is a market-leading manufacturer of high-end precision machined components and assemblies, serving STEM markets including Bio-Tech & Medical Equipment, High-Tech Industrial Applications, Defence and Aerospace. Based in Bedfordshire, they are looking for an experienced CNC Production Manager to lead site operations and drive delivery of their production plan.This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone with a strong CNC machining background who can hit the ground running, maintain quality and delivery standards, and lead a skilled production team.Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & DeliveryLead all production activities, placing health and safety as the top priority at all timesDeliver monthly sales targets and maintain daily delivery schedulesEnsure critical promise dates are met and communicated to all relevant partiesReport machine breakdowns and propose corrective actionsEnsure Preventative Machine Maintenance is conductedQualityAchieve on-time delivery in excess of 90%Maintain reject rates below 1% of turnoverDrive quality ownership back to the shopfloor - "Build in Quality" culturePromote continuous improvement and lean thinking to eliminate process wastePeople & LeadershipManage and lead the production team - staffing, holidays, training, appraisals, attendance and disciplineMotivate and coach team leaders and machinists to operational successSet departmental KPIs and review ongoing performancePromote and uphold high standards through personal exampleSupport tool utilisation and overhead tooling budget managementEnsure full compliance with Health & Safety and environmental regulationsWhat We're Looking ForEssential:CNC machining experience - this is a firm requirement; candidates without a CNC background will not be consideredMinimum 5 years' production experience in the engineering or precision manufacturing sectorAt least 3 years in a leadership, supervisory or management roleTime-served CNC machinist (milling or turning) from an apprenticeship or equivalent practical experienceStrong communication, analytical and problem-solving skillsSolid understanding of precision engineering processes and materialsDesirable:Relevant management qualificationEstimation or project management certificationsPractical knowledge of MRP, master scheduling and capacity planningFamiliarity with Progress MIS or similar production management systemsHow to ApplyIf you have the CNC background and leadership experience we're looking for, we'd love to hear from you.
