Cheshire West and Chester Council's Digital, Data and Technology (DDAT) department is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Student Data Scientist to undertake data science and analytics, machine learning and use of AI to enable the Council to enhance its use of data in strategic and operational decision making. They will also be part of a structured development programme by the Council to offer development opportunities around data science. Responsibilities include:
1. Working as part of the Data Science team to deliver and contribute to wider data science exercises in the Council
2. Contributing to data model building, capability development and related design decisions required for analytics or data science within the business
3. Contributing to the full portfolio of data science, machine learning and AI work on behalf of the Council. Supporting the identification of the specific business need(s), undertake data gathering and determine the best tools, data, and techniques to address it.
4. Contributing to the design and implementation of analytics within digital and data solutions, supporting the Data Scientist to identify and support high value opportunities
The ideal candidate will have a degree level qualification or equivalent experience in computing, with data science specialism. They will also have some demonstrable experience of operational data modelling, demonstrable ability to create dashboards in MS Power BI or similar visualisation tools and experience of communicating analysis & insight in tailored ways to suit the audience.
