Your role:
You will report to the Elections Manager and be part of a client focused and outcomes driven service with managerial responsibility for the Elections Team and electoral registration function of the Council.
You will provide advice and guidance to Members of Parliament, the Leader, Chief Executive / Returning Officer, Elected members, Council Officers and other key stakeholders on Elections, electoral law and electoral registration.
You will lead on elements of the operational delivery of Parliamentary, Mayoral, Borough and Parish elections and Referendums including the implementation of election changes following Election Act 2022.
You will lead on elements of the preparation of timetables and receiving of nominations in respect of Elections providing advice and guidance as appropriate.
You will lead on elements of for the preparation and production of the Electoral Registers and lists of service including overseas and other absent voters and proxies.
You will lead on elements of the collating of statistics and returns in respect of the Election and Electoral Registration functions.
You will assist with the management of the budget related to Elections and Electoral Registration including the payment of staff, completion of accounts and submissions to Central Governments for costs.
About you:
You will have an elections qualification or will be able to demonstrate experience of managing elections from start to completion including post election reporting and returns.
You will have experience of the electoral registration process including giving advice, guidance and support to key stakeholders.
You will have experience of elections and electoral law including giving advice, guidance and support to key stakeholders.
You will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated and professional individual who has experience of working with candidates, elected members, agents and senior officers.
You will have experience of producing complex, detailed and accurate written work, including the examination and extraction of information from a variety of different data sources evaluating the relevance and accuracy of the information.
You will have experience of working in a highly politically sensitive, pressurised and deadline driven environment.
