Anesthesia Technician / Orderly - Main OR (Per Diem)
Responsible for transporting patients, specimens, and equipment, including maintaining equipment and supplies. Provides anesthesia support throughout surgical services, including the Main OR, ASC OR, and Labor and Delivery. Works under the supervision of Nursing and Anesthesia Departments, adhering to all hospital policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
1. Transport patients between hospital units such as Pre-Op, OR, and PACU.
2. Clean and change lines on stretchers and beds using aseptic techniques; thoroughly clean anesthesia gas machines and ventilators; surface clean all gas machines and carts.
3. Deliver specimens and blood products to and from the laboratory.
4. Regularly check and change oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gas tanks.
5. Assist with room turnover, including cleaning floors, removing trash, cleaning furniture, and changing anesthesia circuits.
6. Gather equipment and case carts for upcoming cases, and distribute anesthesia supplies and equipment.
7. Assist in setting up OR rooms for procedures, including preparing airway equipment and providing necessary supplies.
8. Help nursing and anesthesia staff with patient activities such as positioning, turning, and restraining.
9. Perform pre-surgery shave preps.
10. Restock supplies and warming cabinets, ensuring proper stock levels, organization, and labeling.
11. Ensure compliance with customer service standards.
12. Inspect anesthetizing locations at the start of each shift to ensure all equipment is present, including specialty carts and trays.
13. Check the condition of equipment like BP cuffs, EKG cables, and probes regularly.
14. Perform daily battery checks on portable equipment.
15. Ensure sterilization of reusable equipment such as LMAs, blades, and handles.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specifications
A High School diploma is required. CPR certification is required. The candidate must be highly motivated and dependable.
