The purpose of this role as Deputy Service Manager at Brightening Lives is to support the Registered Manager in the delivery of a safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led domiciliary care service for people with complex needs. Salary will be between £34,000-£36,000 dependent on experience. As part of the senior management team this role will work with the Registered Manager to achieve the ongoing delivery of a reliable, high quality person cantered service. This role reports to the Registered Manager, supporting and assisting them in the fulfilment of all relevant tasks required as part of day to day service delivery. The Registered Manager will assign and delegate tasks and will give the role the authority to represent Brightening Lives when unavailable. This role will be supported by the Procurae Group's management infrastructure in the absence of the Registered Manager. This role is key to achieving Brightening Lives mission. This role will be supported by Brightening Lives rota planner/business support administrator. This role requires managerial experience to ensure care is delivered to the highest standards. The Deputy Service Manager will be confident in their role, work well on their own initiative, possess excellent communication skills, be a good decision maker and have the ability to develop staff to their full potential. This role will assist the Registered Manager in maintaining the smooth running of the service by promoting a harmonious culture in line with Brightening Lives vision, mission and values. This will be achieved by coordinating, supervising, directing and facilitating the team leaders and personal assistants in delivering high standards of care. Working alongside the Registered Manager the role will coach and mentor the management team in good practice informed by sector guidance and Brightening Lives policy to enable managers to fulfil their role and responsibilities achieving compliance with business processes in line with policy and regulatory frameworks. The role is 40 hrs per week. It will be primarily office based with working from home to be agreed with the Registered Manager to ensure the needs of the business are well met. This role will require the covering of shifts as required by a 24/7 service to ensure a reliable service. Covering on call will be required as part of a rolling rota undertaken by the management team. This role requires; * The ability to support the Registered Manager in the day to day running of the service and to manage the service to a high standard in the Registered Manager's absence. * The ability to take responsibility for delivering care and support to people we support and to fulfil direct care sessions when required. * The ability to ensure the demands of the service's regulatory framework is met, informed by legislative requirements. * The ability to work in accordance with the CQC fundamental standards for a specialist domiciliary service and support the preparation required for inspection and engage in any inspection by the regulator. * The ability to manage performance and lead the staff team as agreed with the Registered Manager. * The ability to motivate, aid and guide the staff team in their self-development. * The ability to listen and respond both responsibly and appropriately with sensitivity. * The ability to offer support and guidance during on-call duties. * The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both with colleagues and people we support, verbally and in writing. * The ability to lead on the assessment of risk and care plan, working alongside clinically qualified colleagues for those people we support with clinical needs. The ability to lead on risk assessment and care planning for people who have complex communication/behaviour needs. * The ability to lead on the completion of risk assessments and care plans in a way to ensure compliance against sector regulations that inform the provision of direct care to adults and children. * Ability to manage and take direct responsibility for staff performance & training. * Ability to maintain confidentiality and observe data protection guidelines. * Knowledge and experience gained in a supervisory role of a domiciliary care service. * Be prepared to work day and waking night shifts on a rota basis as required. * Flexibility to undertake shift work including weekends and bank holidays, and night shifts. * Requirement to attend and lead management meetings, team meetings and training days. * Computer literacy for example effective use of electronic management systems * Proficient knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel etc * Be caring, compassionate, understanding and show patience. * Be a team player, flexible, honest and reliable. * Have a good sense of humour and not take things personally. * Be confident and resilient. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * A driving licence. Have an awareness of the needs of the business related to budget management / business viability Fulfilment of Brightening Lives continuous improvement plan.
