Responsibilities
As a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
1. Leading mechanical design delivery across water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
2. Providing technical leadership and mentoring within the mechanical engineering team.
3. Managing and coordinating multidisciplinary teams, including civil, mechanical, electrical, and process disciplines.
4. Producing and reviewing mechanical designs, calculations, specifications, and drawings.
5. Ensuring compliance with UK water industry standards and best practice.
6. Supporting design reviews, value engineering, and risk management activities.
7. Acting as a key technical interface with stakeholders, clients, and framework partners.
8. Driving innovation and continuous improvement across AMP8 design delivery.
Essential Experience
9. Proven experience as a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer or Senior Mechanical Engineer within the UK water sector.
10. Strong technical background in mechanical design for water and wastewater infrastructure.
11. Experience working within AMP frameworks or with major UK water utilities.
12. Excellent understanding of UK engineering standards and design methodologies.
13. Proven ability to lead mechanical design and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams.
14. Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Qualifications
15. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
16. Ideally Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership.
17. Professional membership (e.g. IMechE) preferred.
