Health Care Support Worker - Maldwyn Ward - Welshpool

SPONSORSHIP/VISA

Job Summary

The post holder will work as part of a ward‑based nursing team and carry out assigned tasks involving direct and non‑direct care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. They will operate within the core competency framework and deliver basic nursing duties linked to minimum training requirements.


Main duties of the job

* Assist in the delivery of a high standard of nursing care, acting professionally at all times.
* Support adequate nutrition and hydration of patients as directed by the Registered Nurse, including food monitoring and documentation.
* Help keep the ward area clean and tidy, participate in housekeeping and follow guidelines for disposal of dirty linen.
* Communicate daily with patients, relatives, ward staff and visitors in a polite, respectful manner.
* Negotiate care with patients using tact and persuasive skills, overcoming barriers such as blindness, deafness or speech difficulties.
* Use effective communication skills with all team members, patients, relatives and other departments.
* Attend and participate in ward meetings.
* Undertake basic nursing duties under supervision of a Registered Nurse, following training and core competency completion.
* Follow the standards of care outlined in the Fundamentals of Care.
* Knowledge of Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are welcome.

* Clear transferable skills equivalent to NVQ/QCF Level 2.
* Good level of general education.

* GCSEs or equivalent.
* Previous hospital experience.
