Shift Lead Responsibilities
* The Shift Lead is accountable for leading the shift teams to deliver Daily and Weekly plans, ensuring standards set by the Cell Teams are fully implemented across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale.
* They will work with the Cell Teams to build capability within the shift teams, coaching individuals as required.
* Drives autonomy and engagement of the shift teams.
* They will work with the Senior Shift Lead ensuring to escalates issues as appropriate, ensuring site priorities are met.
* The Shift Lead reports to the Cell Leader and has 2 groups reporting to them: Shift Technicians and Cell Operators.
Safety & Environment
* Understand and enforce site safety policies & rules.
* Understand and enforce site waste management procedures.
* Champion safety awareness and environmental awareness activities.
* Lead incident/accident investigations on shift.
Quality
* Manage the blocking of non-conforming stock out of hours including tracing where necessary.
* Understand and enforce site quality policies & rules.
* Champion quality awareness activities.
* Lead quality investigations on shift.
Production
* Delivery of key operational priorities on shift.
* RCA completion - providing an effective problem statement and initial root-cause analysis.
* Provides guidance on prioritising work, and provides the cell teams with escalations to overcome blockers.
* Accountable for the delivery Short-term production plans.
* Works with the Site Planning Team and other Cells to maximise site volume delivery.
* Accountable for Cell people, performance & delivery on shift to meet Daily and Weekly Plans (SQDCM).
* Converts objectives for the Cell into shift plans, and aligns resource plans with external stakeholders.
* Management of the daily processes and labour to consistently deliver the production plan.
* Responsible for meeting standards as defined by the Cell Team.
* Liaise with the logistics team to ensure that any problems adversely affecting the delivery of the plan can be quickly and efficiently resolved.
* Work closely with Technical Lead to implement new PMs procedures/ Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMP).
People Responsibilities
* Manage and lead the Operators and Technicians within their Cell for their shift.
* Coach and mentor shift operators, ILL and technicians through PDPs and all people management processes, identifying future talent for development.
* Work with the Asset Reliability Manager/Lead, Section Engineering Manager and Technical Lead to identify and close technical competence gaps for Shift Technicians.
* Ensure full training programme for Operators & Technicians are in place matching the needs of the Shift Team.
* Absence, Holiday, Temporary Labour and Overtime Management.
* Conduct ER investigations and disciplinary procedures.
* Carries out labour planning and movements, executes training plans & deliver employee engagement activities.
* Drive autonomy, independent working and self-direction within the shift team in alignment with strategic goals.
* Develop a shift team culture of disciplined decision making and appropriate escalation of safety, quality and production issues out of hours.
* Attend Line briefs at agreed frequencies, supporting Cell Leader to ensure effective communications.
* Build relationships with Trade Unions members to encourage a harmonious culture.
* Good technical skills.
* High level of understanding of packing/logistic/making process.
* Good leadership skills (servant leadership, management skills, prioritization skills).
* Good knowledge of IL6S/R2S.
* Good knowledge of problem solving tools and ability to drive a team into problem solving process.
* Managerial and/or supervisory experience, ideally in an operations environment.
