A leading manufacturer is looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join their high-performance team. As a CNC Machinist, you will play a key role in producing high-quality components for a range of industries, working with cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced and supportive environment. This role involves working with multi-axis CNC machinery, including Turn/Mill equipment, and 4-axis horizontal mills, with a focus on machining high-tolerance components to meet strict industry standards.
Monday to Thursday: 07:00 - 15:30 (30-minute lunch break), Friday: 07:00 - 12:30
Key Responsibilities of the CNC Machinist:
CNC Machine Setup & Operation: Set up and operate CNC Turn/Mill equipment and multi-axis machines to produce high-tolerance components.
CNC Programming: Load and execute CNC programs, conducting operation prove-outs to ensure the machines are running optimally.
Inspection & Quality Control: Perform first-off inspections and ongoing quality checks throughout the production process to ensure parts meet the required specifications.
Process Improvement: Optimise CNC programs and machine processes to enhance production efficiency, quality, and cycle times.
Material & Tooling Management: Load materials, operate machines to meet production schedules, and monitor tooling and consumables to ensure smooth production.
Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of production work, following internal quality standards and procedural guidelines.
Maintenance & Housekeeping: Carry out regular machine maintenance checks, keeping the machines and the workshop clean and well-maintained.
Collaboration & Support: Work closely with colleagues, assisting in stock control and supporting other production duties as required.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment.
What Were Looking For:
CNC Expertise: Solid experience with multi-axis CNC machines, including 4-axis and Turn/Mill equipment, is essential.
Materials Experience: A background in machining materials such as duplex steels, carbon steels, and aluminium alloys is highly advantageous.
Precision Engineering: Strong experience in working to tight tolerances and producing high-precision components.
Technical Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and understand complex tolerances.
Inspection Skills: Proficiency with a range of measuring tools and inspection techniques to ensure part quality.
Self-Sufficient & Proactive: Ability to work independently, take the initiative, and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Computer Literate: Comfortable using CNC programming software and general computer applications for documentation.
Desirable Qualifications:
HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Apprenticeship-trained or qualified through experience in CNC machining.
