Purpose of the role
We have a great opportunity for a Highways Maintenance Operative to join the team in Portsmouth, P06 1TA.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will carry out various repairs to the Highways as instructed by the defect management system and management, ensuring that the works are carried out safely for colleagues and the public.
Main Responsibilities
* Ensure full PPE is worn at all times, including hard hat, long-sleeved hi-viz shirt, hi-viz trousers, and safety boots.
* Be proficient in the use of small plant and ensure required tickets are obtained before use.
* Carry out repairs to the Highway as required.
* Keep vehicles tidy and fill in defect sheets daily.
* Use vehicle fobs at all times and report faults promptly.
* Conduct risk assessments before tasks.
* Report all incidents immediately to a Supervisor.
* Respect colleagues and the public.
* Ensure all work is completed to a high standard to prevent repeat visits.
* Operate with regard for safety of visitors, staff, and yourself.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have experience in highways, construction, or civil engineering, with NRSWA and a CSCS card (desirable). Good communication skills, technical knowledge, and understanding of health and safety are essential. Being a team player is important.
Flexibility to work nights and undertake call-outs on a rota system is required.
Package Description
We offer a competitive total compensation package including:
* A salary between £27,300 - £31,200 (dependent on experience and tickets)
* Monthly pay, 37.5 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 07:30-16:00, early finish on Fridays
