Job Requirements
At Quest Global, it’s not just what we do but how and why we do it that makes us different. With over 25 years as an engineering services provider, we believe in the power of doing things differently to make the impossible possible. Our people are driven by the desire to make the world a better place—to make a positive difference that contributes to a brighter future. We bring together technologies and industries, alongside the contributions of diverse individuals who are empowered by an intentional workplace culture, to solve problems better and faster.
Controls and Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer
* Work with Process, Mechanical and Electrical plant systems Engineers to translate high‑level requirements into a specification for Control and Instrumentation (C&I) systems.
* Liaise with other disciplines to understand functional performance capabilities of components and systems to facilitate effective system design.
* Assess and substantiate that the design specification meets the requirements.
* Ensure compliance against international standards in particular, IEC 61513, IEC 61226 and IEC 61508.
* Produce verification and validation plans, and define test plans to demonstrate that the C&I system requirements have been satisfied.
* Support planning and implementation of policies and procedures related to the life‑cycle of C&I systems.
* Ensure that optimum solutions are provided for the RR SMR Nuclear Power Plant by supporting the procurement, operations, and maintenance aspects of the equipment.
* Contribute to the production of safety cases and provide support in liaising with regulators and independent nuclear safety assessors.
Senior Controls and Instrumentation (C&I) Modelling and Simulation Engineer
* Plan model development work within an agile framework.
* Develop the modelling and simulation, validation and verification environments, policies, procedures, and tool sets.
* Develop simulation model architectures and integrate system component models.
* Create models and simulations suitable for C&I design activities and verification of C&I functional requirements.
* Develop models, custom code and simulations suitable for real‑time and accelerated simulation of nuclear power plant and C&I systems.
* Validate integration of software models into simulation model architectures.
* Liaise with other disciplines to understand functional performance capabilities of components of the system to facilitate effective C&I design.
* Account for delivering packages of work to time, cost and quality requirements.
* Develop, validate and verify software simulation models of the nuclear power plant and C&I systems using suitable modelling tools and verification techniques.
* Work with the broader EC&I team and other teams/disciplines to support C&I design activities and verification of C&I functional requirements.
* Act as a responsible designer and intelligent customer depending on the task you are working on.
* Coach junior engineers and the broader EC&I team in Modelling and Simulation techniques.
Work Experience
Controls and Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer
* Knowledge and experience in the systematic design lifecycle of a C&I system including specification, design, assessment, verification, testing, installation, commissioning and maintenance of safety or process critical C&I systems.
* Good understanding of the principles of designing systems to be functionally resilient to faults (such as redundancy and diversity).
* Knowledge and experience of relevant industry standards for systems important to safety (e.g. IEC 61508, IEC 61226, IEC 61513).
* Knowledge and experience of applying systems engineering methodologies including Model Based Systems Engineering to C&I systems.
* Experience in taking information, understanding and presenting it in an appropriate and compelling format, including formal communications to the appropriate stakeholders.
* Ability to provide technical oversight of the work carried out by others and make technical judgements/decisions on behalf of the RR SMR organisation.
* Hold a degree‑level qualification in one or more of the engineering disciplines of electrical, electronics, instrumentation, control systems or mechatronics.
