About Us:
Hex Energy are a leading UK specialist in the design, supply, and installation of ground source heat pump systems. We deliver renewable heating solutions to residential, commercial, and public sector clients, with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability.
Role Overview:
As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the delivery of large-scale ground source heat pump (GSHP) projects from contract award through to completion. You’ll ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance. You will liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal teams to coordinate activities, manage risks, and maintain commercial control throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the end-to-end delivery of GSHP projects, including schools, care homes, residential developments, and commercial buildings.
* Manage project budgets, cash flow, and cost control, ensuring profitability and commercial performance.
* Prepare and manage contract documentation including JCT/NEC forms, variations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
* Act as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, ensuring strong communication and issue resolution.
* Oversee procurement, scheduling, and coordination of subcontractors, drillers, and material suppliers.
* Monitor on-site progress, quality, health & safety, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
* Work closely with the design, engineering, and commissioning teams to ensure successful technical delivery.
* Identify risks and develop mitigation plans to minimise disruption or overspend.
* Ensure that all works are delivered in line with the provided designs and regulations.
* Proven experience as a Project Manager or Commercial Manager in the M&E, renewable energy, or construction sector.
* Strong understanding of ground source heat pump systems or mechanical building services.
* Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, typically valued from £100k to £2m+.
* Excellent knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC), cost management, and contract administration.
* Skilled in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
* Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera), and reporting.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Building Services, or related discipline.
* SMSTS / SSSTS or other recognised health and safety qualifications.
* Experience with MCS and renewable heating incentive schemes (e.g., Boiler Upgrade Scheme).
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIBSE, APM, RICS).
