Preventative Maintenance and Inspection Engineer
Join Finning as a Preventative Maintenance and Inspection Engineer. We are looking for a motivated professional to maximise equipment availability through routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and machine inspections while ensuring safety and compliance.
Position Overview
As the Preventative Maintenance Engineer, you will work closely with the service controller to ensure operational availability of customer equipment. Your duties will include routine servicing, minor repairs, safety inspections, and maintaining accurate records. You will also support the installation and maintenance of telemetry systems and assist customers with machine diagnostics and handover activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform preventative maintenance servicing in line with manufacturer guidelines, including oil sampling.
* Carry out minor repairs identified during machine inspections and install telematic systems.
* Diagnose telemetry faults on asset systems and components; manage hardware updates.
* Conduct visual and mechanical inspections of machine condition, highlight hydraulic, electrical, powertrain, and mechanical issues.
* Ensure software is current, record all work on‑site, and maintain accurate documentation.
* Provide user familiarisation and handover activities; configure machines and engines for operational use.
Qualifications & Experience
• 3 years of direct experience or related engineering work (car or HGV mechanic, agricultural engineer, REME, military vehicle technician).
• Basic knowledge of engines, hydraulics, powertrain, and vehicle electrics/electronics.
• Presentation in health & safety training is desirable but not required.

Other Information
• Field‑based role requiring full driving licence held for ≥2 years (DVLA licence check).
• Working hours: 43 hrs per week, Monday‑Friday, one Saturday every three weeks at overtime rate.
