Job Overview We are currently seeking an experienced Tarmac Screwman to join a busy Machine Lay Gang. The successful candidate will be responsible for controlling the screed on the asphalt paver, ensuring the correct depth, width, and finish of laid materials in line with project specifications. Key Responsibilities Operating and controlling the screed on the asphalt paving machine Setting and maintaining correct levels, camber, and thickness of asphalt Adjusting screed controls to ensure a consistent, high-quality finish Working closely with the paver operator, rakehands, and roller drivers Monitoring material flow and temperature to ensure optimal laying conditions Carrying out on-the-ground checks to maintain line and level accuracy Assisting with setup and breakdown of the paving machine Ensuring compliance with site health & safety regulations Maintaining a clean and safe working environment Requirements Valid CSCS Card (essential) Proven experience working as a Tarmac Screedsman Strong understanding of asphalt paving operations and machine lay techniques Ability to read levels and work to specifications Good communication and teamwork skills Strong awareness of health & safety practices Desirable (Tickets / Certifications – Not Essential but Advantageous) NPORS or CPCS Paver / Asphalt Machine NPORS or CPCS Ride-on Roller NPORS or CPCS Forward Tipping Dumper Streetworks (NRSWA) Ticket What We Offer Competitive rates of pay Ongoing work opportunities Opportunity to work with an experienced and professional surfacing gang Potential for further training and development To apply online, please click on the appropriate link below.
