Customer Team Member/Food-To-Go Bakery Assistant (SPAR 18+), Aberavon, South Wales

We have an exciting opportunity for a SPAR Customer Team Member in our Food-To-Go Department. As a Customer Team Member at SPAR, you will play a vital role in supporting store management and creating a positive customer experience. Your responsibilities include helping to maximize sales and profit by completing assigned tasks, contributing to continuous store improvement, and delivering excellent customer service through initiatives like ‘Brilliant Basics, Moments of Wow, Food for Later, and Food for Now!’

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Customer Service
* Greeting customers warmly and professionally.
* Assisting customers with product inquiries and helping them find items.
* Processing transactions efficiently and accurately at the tills, maintaining friendly service.
* Upselling products and promoting multi-buy offers to enhance sales.
* Following all food safety, handling, and sanitation standards when storing, preparing, and serving food, as well as cleaning the department.
Store Operations
* Managing stock: checking deliveries, stocking shelves, maintaining cleanliness, and rotating stock for freshness.
* Completing tasks such as date checking, stock and gap checks, price updates, promotional displays, and other duties as assigned.
* Adhering to company policies, procedures, and processes.
Key Skills & Knowledge
* Experience in a similar role or industry is preferred.
* Reliable with instructions and attentive to detail.
* Understanding of retail legislative responsibilities and compliance.
* Ability to contribute ideas for exceptional customer service and business growth.
* Experience with ‘Challenge 25’ policy is desirable.
* Enthusiastic team player and independent worker.
* Cash handling experience is a plus but not essential.
