The purpose of the Alcohol and Substance Misuse Liaison Nurse Specialist within the emergency department(ED) setting and the gastrointestinal service is to develop and maintain a substance misuse liaison service for patients presenting to the ED or inpatient departments at the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust (GEH) who have alcohol or drug problems.

Main duties of the job
To screen, assess and provide specialist advice and guidance to patients with substance misuse needs relating to their management, care and onward pathways within the hospital and community, working at reducing substance misuse and further admissions.
To provide specialist education and training to all staff within GEH including screening, assessment, management of substance misuse and referral pathways.
